There may be many reasons why a Coach is not the right thing for you. Maybe you don’t have faith in what they can help you accomplish or maybe you know that you are not ready to listen to a different perspective. It’s not for everyone. However, if you are looking to work with somebody that can help you reach your next levels of success, there are specific expectations you should have of your Coach.

Experience –
Somebody who has been in your shoes and worked with many others that may be reaching for similar goals or trying to knock down the same barriers.

Ideas –
Your Coach should be able to present different ways to solve a problem. Running a financial advisory business is not the same for everybody, so the solutions may not all be identical.

Honesty –
It’s not always easy, but you should expect that your Coach will tell you what you NEED to hear, not just what you WANT to hear.

Accountability –
It’s not enough to have conversations without action. Accountability works both ways. You should expect your Coach to hold you accountable to what’s important for your success, and you should be able to hold your Coach accountable for their role.

Care –
It’s business, but you should expect your Coach to genuinely care about you, your team and your success. Hiring a Coach can be advantageous no matter how long you’ve been in the business or how much revenue you generate. If you are ready to have the conversation to determine if it’s the right thing for you, keep the above expectations in mind and let that be your guide.
